Trying to start game 'Broken Sword 1: The Shadow of The Templars'Ībout the sound. My sound card's bustedītw the look and size of the ScummVM interface changed It could mean that your ireland.clu file has somehow been corrupted or truncated. WARNING could not open audio device: DirectSoundCreate:No audio device found! It means ScummVM tried to read 144 bytes from a data file (probably ireland.clu - the message should be a bit clearer in ScummVM 0.8.0, but I guess youre using an earlier version), but apparently it failed to. When I first enter Nicoles apartment the screeching starts again and it does not stop until the game crashes. The game works just fine but the music in some parts starts screeching and stops after a while and it happens at the same screens at the same times. Using configuration file C:\WINDOWS\scummvm.ini Hi I just started to play Broken Sword 1 and I have a problem. You may want to consider moving your config file from the old default location:Ĭ:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\ScummVM\scummvm.ini The game first follows George Stobbard as he rescues his girlfriend Nicole Collard, who had been kidnapped. Not seen the disk its the one from SoldOut I assume but you can probably copy the files off manually to your HD and run the games through a new version of ScummVM you can download from here. The default location of the config file in ScummVM has changed, under Windows NT4/2000/XP/Vista. Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror, the second installment in the Broken Sword series, also used a variant of Revolutions Virtual Theatre engine. This page has a list of the files that ScummVM uses, and there should be some notes in the ScummVM README file as well. It works fine until I try to enter the castle in Ireland, from the top of the hay pile. Same datafiles work fine under ScummVM PC and Mac version. Will it have an effect? Do I have to delete it and re-install my latest version for the scummvm.ini file? I dont have 2 scummVM programs installed. make a directory in this folder called "movies", put all your cutscenefiles in this and point the extras path to it.Įdit: oh, and if you still have two versions of ScummVM running on your system, try uninstalling them and install the latest version from delete the scummvm.ini file in you ScummVM directory first to be safe though, it should create a fresh one upon install.īut it seems that I don't have the swordres.rif file Here is a list of what gamefiles are needed to play, try making a directory on you hard drive called "sword1" and copy the necessary files/folders straight from the cd to them. ![]()
